Customer feedback – California USA
Hi John and Carol,
I continue to be thrilled with the large sliding-door screen that I purchased from you a few years ago, and now I would like to take care of my two windows. They are small, and would be totally straightforward– except that the latch/opening hardware at the bottom of the window complicates things. I am attaching photos because I’m not sure how to describe it.
I made my existing screens by cutting screen, edging with duct tape and velcro, and affixing to the insode window frame. I had to cut two small holes per screen to accommodate the window latch hole and the little ledge that holds the latch itself when the window is closed.
Every spring, swarms of wasps try to get into my flat to build a nest, seeking out and crawling through impossibly small openings. For this reason, I have to keep these holes totally sealed off, whether or not the window is open or closed. I usually do this by layering duct tape around the edges of the holes I cut. I have to replace the tape every time I open or close the window, but it does work.
Do you have any experience accommodating this sort of hardware? If not, I will order plain rectangular screens and cut the holes myself, but I would love it if you could do it, as I know it will then be more durable.
Thanks very much for your help,
Kelly Wright
